We all know that corrosion can cause major problems for the longevity of a metal roof, whether it’s at the cut edge, on fixings, overlaps or on the sheets themselves.

When anything iron based is left out long enough, complete rusting is inevitable. It’s not just a case of superficial change, the iron will totally disintegrate if it’s left unprotected.

The catalyst for the rusting process is water, and our main battle is against that moisture. But it’s not just moisture…temperature changes, salt, dirt particles, algae, they all play a major factor in causing roof dilapidation.

We can’t avoid the elements, but we can protect against them with the best of the best.

Introducing Graphene

Graphene is the thinnest known material in existence. By adding Graphene into the coating in the form of platelets, it forms a barrier within the coating film itself which is up 120 times denser than any traditional coatings technology on the market today.

Two hundred times stronger than steel, the graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms bonded in a 2D hexagonal structure within the coating itself.

It creates a tortuous pathway within the coating, forming a virtually impenetrable barrier, which provides unparalleled protection against corrosion and of course, weathering.

It’s the next generation of high-performance coatings, and with today’s demands in mind, it has been specifically designed to live and work alongside the world’s current climate changing requirements.

It is totally UV stable with properties that are able to withstand big temperature fluctuations whilst still remaining flexible, and is taking corrosion protection to a new level – allowing for a 30 year warrantied life from just one coat.

What does it bring to Advantage®?

The Advantage® coating is already made from one of the most advanced resin-based polymers, specially developed for the metal roof market to provide exceptional UV stability at low film weights. Couple this with the Laminar armouring that the Graphene adds to the product. ISO:9227 salt spray testing is already showing results in excess of 11,000 hours.
